Ecotherapy
The practice of Ecotherapy includes various techniques and activities that aid in deepening our connection to nature, helping to improve overall wellbeing, psychological and physiological health.
Ecotherapy doesn’t yet have a single definition, being called or including: green therapy, nature therapy, outdoor therapy, horticultural therapy, nature connection, wilderness therapy, animal therapy, blue therapy…
The charity Mind gives further explanation here.
It is now well researched and documented the benefits that being in and with nature can bring us, such as reduced anxieties and stress, improved cognitive functions and focus, increased creativity, better sleep patterns, enhanced mood, opportunities for relaxation and restoration.
Ecotherapy shows how to be less ego- and more eco- in our thoughts and actions because of the understanding that nature is part of us and we are part of nature - benefiting both ourselves, others and the environment.
